Hi, friends! My name is Katie. I’m a writer, teacher, a life-long learner and a single mama to my six loves: Harper Kristin, Cannon Lee, Jordi Daniel, Ava Honor—who came to us through the foster care system in October 2018—Beckett Alexander and Braylen Kai.
In October of 2016, Cannon was diagnosed with autism, and it messed me up enough to get real clear with Jesus about what something so 'wrong' could mean about a God who always does right. But like He always does, Jesus showed up in my shakiest places and steadied my footing for the journey He has asked us to walk. I won't tell you it is easy, but I will tell you that for the first time in my life I am truly learning what grace for grace (John 1:16) really means. And then in 2023, my marriage ended. I write a lot about that over on Substack, and would love for you to join me over there if you can!
I write because the most sense I can make of the world comes through two things: knowing Jesus and putting words on paper. So that's what I do here: I wrote about my faith, my family, my community, and figuring out how to live into a life that is all for God's glory.
And because one can tell a lot about a person by a good list of favorites, mine include: my navy blue sherpa throw blanket, the Peloton, Lululemon yoga pants, an overstocked bookshelf, late nights and hard questions, sharpie pens, my journal Bible, college football Saturdays, and anything that starts with the words salted caramel.

I am also a contributor at Coffee + Crumbs, a collaborative blog all about motherhood: the good, the hard, the funny, and everything in between. Our first book, The Magic of Motherhood, came out in April of 2017, and we hope it continues to be an encouragement to moms everywhere for a long time.
I'm so glad you're here.
Soli Deo Gloria.
